Leroy Ozanne
Inventor
Leroy Ozanne, a native of Beaumont, Texas, founded Ozanne Construction Company,
Inc. in 1956 here in Cleveland, Ohio. His objective was to establish a high quality general
construction firm capable of competing openly in the public and private construction market in
northeastern Ohio. He was successful in his years, working for Gulf Oil Company and Shell Oil Company building gasoline stations on a repeat basis. He also built his fair share of churches. The sixties saw the advent of
urban renewal, and Ozanne was able to receive general construction contracts from developers and
philanthropic organizations interested in constructing rental housing on Cleveland’s east side.
Building on his residential construction experience, Ozanne expanded into the commercial arena in the
early 1970’s, working for such companies as Ohio Bell and Cleveland Trust Company. Ozanne also had the opportunity to work on
general construction and construction management projects in joint venture with major construction firms.
This experience enabled Ozanne to grow to a level where in the public and private sector Ozanne
Construction is a name known as a competitive force in the northeastern Ohio construction industry. Leroy Ozanne has many notable civic
accomplishments as well. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of both the Catholic Charities
Corporation, past President, Associated General Contractors of Cleveland, and is an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association.
